FSCC Livestock Judging Team Celebrates Successful Season
Fort Scott, Kan.—Fort Scott Community College will host a reception to celebrate the FSCC Livestock Judging Team’s successful 2015-16 season at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 15.
The FSCC Livestock Judging Team won first place at the:
Mid-America Classic Livestock Judging Contest in Wichita, KS American Royal in Kansas City, MO North American Livestock Expo in Louisville, KY Griswold Cattle Contest in Stillwater, OK Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo in Fort Worth, TX Dixie National Livestock Show, Jackson, MS Flint Hills Classic Spring Livestock Show in Manhattan, KS Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic in Kearney, NE San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo in San Antonio, TX
The team won second place at the Aksarben Stock Show & Rodeo in Omaha, NE. In addition, the team won the carload contest at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, CO. “These students are all such talented individuals. They worked hard this year and earned their successes,” said Ryan Page, FSCC Livestock Judging Coach. “I am proud of the team and I look forward to seeing the great things the students will go on to accomplish in the future.” Three Livestock Judging students were recognized as Academic All-Americans—Chase Gleason of Uniontown, KS; Callahan Grund of Sharon Springs, KS; and Ben Weis of McIntire, IA. The All-American program recognizes students who have excelled in both academics and livestock judging. Because the team won first place at North American Livestock Expo in Louisville, KY, they were invited to compete at the Royal Highland Stock Show in Edinburgh, Scotland. During the contest, the team will split into groups of two to judge cattle and sheep. The team will leave for Scotland on June 22 and return on July 3. The community is invited to join the college in celebrating the team’s success. The reception will take place at Fort Scott Community College East Campus (The Armory), 2301 Horton Street in Fort Scott.
