The sociology courses offered by FSCC are intended to provide students with a foundation for work pursued in higher level courses at a four-year institution. Material covered includes theoretical perspectives, elements of culture, socialization, groups, deviance, stratification, gender, race, ethnicity, the family, education, religion, economic systems, health and medicine, social movements, and social change.

Program Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge of major theoretical perspectives within the social sciences. (Theories of Psychology/Sociology)
- Recognize forms of social interaction and development changes in the social and behavioral sciences.
- Recognize how the culture influences the individual’s or group’s behavior and/or mental processes.
