Overview

FSCC HVAC program is in alignment with the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) CIP code 47.0201: Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration Maintenance Technology/Technician. A

program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, install, service and maintain the operating condition of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Includes instruction in diagnostic techniques, the use of testing equipment and the principles of mechanics, electricity, and electronics as they relate to the repair of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Fort Scott Community College offers both a certificate and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation, and Refrigeration Maintenance (HVAC) Technology/Technician. This program prepares students for careers in residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC systems through hands-on training and classroom instruction. Students in the program will complete NCCER level 1 and level 2, level 3 certifications, providing them with industry-recognized credentials that demonstrate technical competence and workplace readiness. Students will be given the opportunity to sit for EPA refrigerant handling certification and other industry credentials that are nationally recognized from coast to coast. The program is overseen by an advisory board consisting of industry representatives and instructors to make sure the curriculum is aligned with the state standard, up to date and responsive to current industry practices.
