Fort Scott, KS- Stewart Gulager came in at 4.2 seconds and first place in RFD-TV’s The American semi-final, shootout steer wrestling competition on Sunday, February 22.  This was good enough to win Stewart Gulager a $25,000 pot and a slot in The American’s finals held next week in Dallas.

The American’s semi-final rounds held in Fort Worth gave out $500,000.  The finals are expected to give out $2 million.

February 19, Gulager competed in the first two rounds without placing in the top six, but was named to the top twenty that advanced to the third round.  The third round was Gulager’s best publicized round so far.

Originally from Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Gulager is an alumnus of Fort Scott Community College where he competed on the rodeo team.  He is now president of Fort Scott’s Twister Trailers.  Gulager competes with Fort Scott listed as his hometown.

FSCC Head Rodeo Coach, Chad Cross, said, “Stewart is a prime example of a person who came into this community because of this program, stayed, and had a great and positive impact on the community.”

Cross continued, “We’re very proud of him and his accomplishments and wish him the best of luck.”
