Martin Luther King, Jr. Day activities at FSCC announced

March 5, 2015

Fort Scott, KS- Fort Scott Community College will observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a “Lunch and Learn” presentation on Monday, January 19, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Gordon Parks Museum. The hour’s program will feature a short film on Dr. King and a talk given by LaShawn Miller, Mercy Hospice social worker and volunteer coordinator. Ms. Miller is also an adjunct instructor at FSCC.

The Lunch and Learn is free and open to the public. Participants should bring their own lunch. Drinks and desserts will be provided.

Jill Warford, Chairperson of the Planning Committee, said, “We thought a Lunch and Learn would be a new way for our community to celebrate Dr. King’s life and might attract some people who wouldn’t want to get out at night.”

“We have always had an evening program, but we wanted to try something new this year. LaShawn Miller will be an excellent speaker for this event,” Warford added.
