About the Sociology Pathway

Sociology is the study of social behavior. Sociology can help us to better understand ourselves, other people, and different cultures. Human interaction and social institutions present a fascinating way to consider our lives, behaviors, and world.

The sociology courses offered by FSCC are intended to provide students with a foundation for work pursued in higher level courses at a four-year institution. Material covered includes theoretical perspectives, elements of culture, socialization, groups, deviance, stratification, gender, race, ethnicity, the family, education, religion, economic systems, health and medicine, social movements, and social change.
