University of Kansas and Fort Scott Community College Nursing Partnership Program

The University of Kansas and Fort Scott Community College Nursing jointly offer the Community College Nursing Partnership (CCNP) program where you can earn both your Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and your Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN).

How does the CCNP program work?

Once you are admitted to your ADN program and have your prerequisite courses complete, you can start KU courses anytime. It’s all up to you.

You can begin both programs together and graduate with two degrees at the same time, or you can start your Fort Scott Community College Nursing ADN first and then start your KU BSN later. The CCNP program is flexible so you can move at a pace that works for you.

This program saves you money on your BSN and empowers you to maintain your local support network.

Important Information

FSCC’s Nursing Department participates in the Kansas Academic Progression Model, which allows LPNs who hold a Kansas license to continue their studies at FSCC to obtain an associate’s degree in nursing. FSCC nursing graduates can continue their studies at any of the state’s 12 colleges and universities to obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

The FSCC nursing program is conditionally approved by the Kansas State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN). The nursing curriculum reflects the Kansas ADN Alignment project and is current with nursing theory and practice using Quality and Safety for Nursing Education (QSEN) as its framework.

Educational facilities include four lecture classrooms, a skills lab, human simulation lab, computer lab, IV skills lab, conference/library, and audio/visual viewing room. Students may also take advantage of the student commons area for study and informal gatherings. FSCC main campus resources are available for all students. Clinical settings include healthcare agencies in Fort Scott, Paola, Girard, Osawatomie, and Pittsburg in Kansas and Nevada in Missouri.  All campus nursing lab experiences are provided at the Dick Hedges Administration Building located on the FSCC main campus.

Program Outcome 1: Program Completion Rates (Aggregated Data)

Timeframe for Graduate Outcome 1: Program completion within 100% of the program length (4 semesters) or on-time completion.

ELA: 65% of all students entering the nursing program in the first nursing course will complete the program within four (4) semesters.

Program Outcome 2: NCLEX First Time Pass Rates

Timeframe for Program Outcome 2: January 1, 2024- December 31, 2024 (Source of the Data – National Council of State Boards of Nursing)

ELA: The NCLEX pass rate for first time takers will be 80% or greater January 1 – December 31^st annually.

Program Outcome 3: Graduate Employment Rates

ELA:90% of graduates will be employed in an RN role for which they were educated within 6 months of graduation
