John T. Dickerson, a Fort Scott native, graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1979 and attended Fort Scott Community College in 1979-80. He transferred to Kansas State University where he received his B.S. in Animal Sciences, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition.

After college he worked at Agri-Concepts in Roanoke, VA, as the business development manager. He then went on to work as a nutritionist for the Iowa Testing Laboratories and the M & M Livestock Products Company.

John’s work has given him the opportunity to travel to 27 countries throughout the world. He lived in the Netherlands for three years and Switzerland for four years from 1998 to 2005. He most recently lived and worked in Geneva, Switzerland, working for Proctor & Gamble Pet Health and Nutrition.

John is involved in many community and civic organizations and is the author of four referenced journal papers and a member of the European Society of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition.

John and his family returned to the United States in June 2005. His current responsibilities include directing the material development group for global Pet Care Research and Development and leading the technology development for Procter and Gamble’s Snacks organization. He and his wife, Karen, are the parents of Andrew, 15, and Kate, 5. They live in Centerville, Ohio. He is the son of the late T.J. and Mary Ellen Dickerson (‘43). John will speak at the 8:00 p.m. graduation ceremony on Friday May 16.
