Fort Scott Community College Theatre Stages “The Odd Couple: Female Version”

February 23, 2016

Fort Scott, Kan.—The Fort Scott Community College Theatre Department will present Neil Simon’s contemporary comic classic “The Odd Couple: Female Version,” Thursday, March 10 through Saturday, March 12. Directed by Lawrence Alford, this hilarious, fast-paced story focuses on the friendship of two women, Florence and Olive, who are opposite in every way.

Devastated when her husband asks for a divorce, Florence goes missing for an entire day. Worried about her friend, Olive convinces Florence to move in to her apartment—and that’s when the fuse is lit on this madcap powder keg! With two mismatched roommates, a group of ladies who know the answer to all the world’s problems, and a couple of Latin lovers, this production is a terrific recipe for fun.

Alford said he chose this play because he wanted to present a story that empowers women and helps them find their voices. “Florence finds her voice with a little help from her friend,” said Alford. “Sound familiar? That’s because it’s the way most of us find our voices, too.”

The production opens on March 10 and runs through March 12. Showtime is 7:30 pm. Performances will be held at Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center, 2108 S. Horton, Fort Scott, KS. General admission tickets may be purchased at the door on the day of the show—prices are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. This show is recommended for mature audiences, due to adult language and humor.
