FSCC’s Role in the Public Health Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic
As we continue to phase into our new normal at FSCC we want to say thank you to our students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders for your efforts, expertise, patience, and dedication as we continue to adapt and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Regardless of what our new normal looks like, the board is confident we will continue to meet student needs with high quality educational programs, as well as robust athletic and co-curricular programs.
Campus Events & Community Meetings
Based on recommendations by the CDC, KDHE, and for the safety of all involved, non-college events and activities hosted by outside organizations will not be allowed on campus through July 31, 2021. This will include meetings and/or lunches hosted on campus by local civic organizations. We have developed critical policies and protocols on how to help keep our college and community members safe and healthy

CDC Considerations for Institutions of Higher Education: Gatherings
Limit any nonessential visitors, volunteers, and activities involving external groups or organizations as possible – especially with individuals who are not from the local geographic area (e.g., community, town, city, or county).

One of the most effective tools we have to contain the spread of COVID-19 is maintaining a physical distance from others. The actual separation of people keeps an infected person from spreading the disease. An added benefit is that, if colleges and universities are able to successfully ensure physical distancing in group settings like classrooms, common areas, etc., then there are fewer close contacts that are mandated to quarantine after being in the same space as a case.
College Sponsored Sporting Events and Activities
Beginning February 6, 2021 Fort Scott Community College will allow spectators to attend athletic events up to 25% fan seating capacity. This decision shall be reviewed March 1, 2021, at which time the capacity limit may be increased, decreased, or remain steady. Below are the capacity requirements:
Indoor Sports: 25% fan seating capacity maximum. Basketball – Two fans per FSCC student-athlete will be allowed on pass list. FSCC students will be allowed to attend up to the 25% capacity of the arena. Total fan attendance not to exceed 62 total fans. No visiting team fans will be allowed. Volleyball – Three fans per FSCC student-athlete will be allowed on pass list. FSCC students will be allowed to attend up to the 25% capacity of the arena. Total fan attendance not to exceed 93 total fans. No visiting team fans will be allowed. FSCC student-athletes are required to submit names on pass list 48 hours ahead of game time. FSCC students must present student ID in order to attend the games. Outdoor Sports: 25% fan seating capacity maximum where seating is clearly designated. For those venues or areas without clearly designated seating, fans must remain socially distanced. No visiting fans will be allowed at FSCC outdoor events. All fans must wear masks for both indoor and outdoor venues. There shall be no concession allowed. No outside food or drinks allowed. Every effort will be made to ensure a 6-ft area marked off separating the teams and participants from the spectators. Visiting Team Travel Party Limitations
The travel party shall be limited to the numbers listed below. The travel party shall include all players, coaches, training staff, managers, bus drivers, and any other team personnel. Basketball: 25 Volleyball: 25 All members of the travel party must be screened prior to their entrance at the same time as the team.
KJCCC to Allow 25% of Capacity for Fans
(KJCCC) February 1, 2021 – The Presidents and athletic directors of the member schools of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) met via Zoom call this afternoon, and made changes to the fan admission policy for conference events. The key change was to allow fans up to 25% of the venue capacity beginning with the Feb. 6 games and events. Key points that were passed during the meeting include:

All fans must wear masks for both indoor and outdoor venues. There will be no concessions allowed.
KJCCC member institutions are not required to have an allotment of tickets available for visiting fans. Visiting fans may purchase tickets in accordance with the host school’s attendance/ticketing policy.
There must be a minimum six-foot area marked off separating the teams and participants from the spectators. If schools can provide a larger buffer between fans and the playing surface they are encouraged to do so.
