FSCC Cafeteria is open to students, faculty, and staff. It features a number of exciting additions to traditional cafeteria fare, including festive meals, monthly premium specials, and final exam snacks. Sick tray service, physician planned meals, and vegetarian meals are also available upon request.
Great Western Dining is the Fort Scott Community College food service provider. Great Western Dining Service specializes in the college dining market. Our executive management staff has more than a century of combined professional experience in the culinary arts and campus dining management. Our ongoing training program enhances the growth, development, creativity, skills and trend awareness of our management group. Our employees achieve higher levels of productivity and morale through attendance at seminars, workshops and roundtable discussions.

Special Services
Premium entree: once a month, we serve a premium entree. Examples include: carved meat, an eight ounce steak, breaded shrimp, prime rib, game hen, half a chicken, triple bacon cheeseburgers, 8″ deep pan pizzas or salmon steaks. Premium items will not be available for seconds, however other entrees will always be available on an unlimited basis.
Festive meals: once a month, great western provides a festive meal. Examples include a hog roast picnic in August, a football game tailgate party in September, super bowl pizza party in January!
Pace changers: we offer pace changer meals several times a month during lunch. These add variety and excitement to your daily program. Examples include but not limited to a taco bar, nacho bar, foot long hot dog bar, ice cream sodas, ice your own cup cakes, pumpkin carving, guess the number of jelly beans in the jar and win a prize, trivia questions for movie tickets, etc.
Exam snacks: we serve snacks and beverages in the dining room during finals week.
Late night breakfast: we will serve a late night breakfast the night before the final examination schedule begins. FSCC administration and faculty help serve the meal.
Picnics/special functions: contract students in organized groups may have picnics, cook-outs or other special functions and furnish the food in lieu of eating in the cafeteria. This will be done at no extra charge to the contract student.
Birthday bash: each month, in the dining room great western will supply a large birthday cake for all boarding students celebrating birthdays during that month.
Physician-planned diets: if a student is unable for medical reasons to consume the regular meal served in the dining room, Great Western will supply, at no additional cost, a meal meeting the physician’s requirements.
Sick tray service: will be available upon arrangements and recommendations.
Vegetarian program and dietary options: we strive to accommodate the preferences of all students. Our on-site manager will work with student groups to build and maintain a vegetarian program and work with the food service committee towards various dietary options for the students and staff of the college.
Students on tour: sandwiches, fresh fruit, beverages, chips, and desserts will be offered to resident students on athletic trips or any other college sponsored trip, in lieu of a regular scheduled meal. Boxed meals will also be available, upon advance request, for contract students leaving campus on vacation breaks, or at times when they have class- or activity-related conflicts with meal schedules.
Carry out service: packaged meals will be provided for those students who wish to take their meal on-the-go.
Special service meals: we offer special meal services to students participating in college sponsored events that conflict with regularly scheduled meals. Menus and meal times will be arranged through the Food Service Director.
Reciprocal meal service: any contract student visiting another campus whose food service is managed by great western will be offered meal service, upon valid identification of their participation in food service.
