Overview

The FSCC history program offers students an engaging and comprehensive exploration of the rich and diverse histories of Fort Scott, Kansas, the United States, and the world. Through our curriculum, students will delve into significant events, influential figures, and transformative periods that have shaped our present.

Our U.S. History courses provide a thorough understanding of America’s story, from the era of exploration and colonization through the Civil War, Reconstruction, and into the contemporary period. Students will gain valuable insights into how historical events have influenced the development of the nation and will discover their own place within this historical context.

The curriculum also offers students who have an interest in history the opportunity to take courses such as History of Civilization I and History of Civilization II. These courses cover the origins and growth of early civilizations, exploring their political, social, economic, and cultural evolutions that have shaped the modern world.

FSCC’s history program not only prepares students for careers in education, research, and public history but also equips them with the analytical and communication skills necessary for success in various fields. By understanding the past, students can better navigate the present and contribute to shaping the future.
