Hill Earns 600th Career Win as Fort Scott Tops Coffeyville 4-2

July 6, 2026

Fort Scott Community College secured a 4-2 victory over Coffeyville Community College on April 2, highlighted by a milestone achievement for head coach John Hill, who recorded his 600th career win.

Fort Scott (26-10, 8-5) used a late offensive surge to pull away, scoring two runs in the eighth inning to break a 2-2 tie. The Greyhounds tallied nine hits on the day while holding Coffeyville (10-23, 3-14) to five.

“Winning 600 games at Fort Scott Community College brings a deep feeling of gratitude and reflection,” Hill said. “I have been fortunate to be trusted to lead nearly 700 players during my 18 years here. While we have been successful on the field, what makes me most proud is the quality of young men our players have become. They are leaders in their families, professions, churches and communities. Our players are winning games, but more importantly, they are winning in life.

“I am honored to have been part of their journey and grateful for their commitment to our baseball program, the college and the Fort Scott community. I have also had the opportunity to coach alongside former players, which adds a meaningful depth to those relationships.

“Andrew Morrow and Dawson Cantwell, both alumni, are invaluable members of our coaching staff. They represent the continued strength of our program and its impact beyond the field.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to represent Fort Scott Community College and our community in the best possible way, both on the field and in the classroom. The longer I coach, the more I recognize the influence of Jesus Christ in my life, my program and my players.”

The victory marks a significant milestone for Hill, whose 600th career win underscores a long-standing tradition of success for the Fort Scott baseball program.

Fort Scott will look to build on its momentum as conference play continues.
