The President of Fort Scott Community College serves as the chief executive officer, providing overall leadership and administration of the College. This includes guiding the vision and mission, ensuring academic integrity, overseeing finances and personnel, and leading strategic planning. The President works to strengthen institutional effectiveness and position the College to meet the current and future needs of students, employees, and the community.

Chief of Staff / Interim CFOO
Dr. Jim Chandler
The Chief of Staff to the President serves as the primary liaison between the Office of the President and internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and follow-through on institutional priorities. This role coordinates strategic initiatives, special projects, and high-priority institutional efforts, including accreditation, compliance, and external review processes. The Chief of Staff provides policy and procedural guidance to the President, manages information gathering for regulatory reviews, drafts correspondence and reports on behalf of the President, facilitates cabinet-level meetings, and ensures timely follow-up and execution of Presidential directives.
As Interim CFOO, this role oversees the College’s key operational and administrative functions, including Human Resources, Maintenance and Facilities, IT, Print Shop/Webmaster, Logistics/Transportation, Bookstore, Public Relations, and Food Service. The CFOO is responsible for the management, coordination, and efficiency of these departments to support the College’s strategic goals and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

Vanessa Poyner
The Vice President of Student Affairs/Dean of Students and Title IX Coordinator oversees student services at Fort Scott Community College, including admissions, advising, housing, financial aid, student activities, and compliance. This role advocates for students, promotes a safe and supportive campus environment, and ensures fair and equitable practices through Title IX and related policies, while supporting student success inside and outside the classroom.

Foundation Director / Grant Coordinator

The FSCC Foundation Director / Grant Coordinator leads and manages the college’s advancement efforts, including fundraising, donor and alumni engagement, grant writing and administration, communications, and event coordination. This role is responsible for cultivating relationships, awarding Foundation scholarships, securing external funding, and building institutional support to achieve resource development goals and strengthen the mission of Fort Scott Community College.

This role is responsible for program administration, compliance, athlete development, and fostering excellence both on and off the field to support the mission of Fort Scott Community College.
