Scholarships

Fort Scott Community College offers students more than 350 scholarship opportunities.

Priority date to apply

The priority date for the fall semester is April 15 and January 1 for the spring semester. Students are welcome to apply for scholarships after the priority date has passed.

Apply for Scholarships

  1. Apply to Fort Scott Community College, if you haven't already
  2. Go to fortscott.edu/Student
  3. Click GIZMO and sign in with your FSCC ID and PIN
  4. Go to Account Info and select Scholarship Application

 
All waivers and scholarships require students to complete the FAFSA and FSCC Scholarship Application annually. Once the awarding process begins, you will receive an email with your scholarship offer, along with terms and conditions, that must be accepted and signed. This single application will automatically match you to more than 350 institutional and endowment scholarships offered at FSCC.

Note: Institutional and activity scholarships do not cover fees. All qualified admissions students through Pittsburg State University are not eligible for scholarships or waivers.

Scholarships

Academic Excellence Scholarship
Includes: Tuition and books up to 18 hours for full-time students (12+ credit hours) 
Open to: Students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher
Requirements: Maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher while enrolled at FSCC.
 

Greyhound Advantage Award
Includes: Tuition and books up to 12 hours for full-time students (12+ credit hours)
Open to: Students with a GPA of 3.0 to 3.49
Requirements: Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher while enrolled at FSCC
 

Activity Scholarships
Includes: Tuition and books up to 15 credit hours for full-time students (12+ credit hours)
Open to: Students interested in participating in the following student organizations: Agriculture Ambassadors, Athletic Training, Athletic Manager, Band, Choir, Greyhound #SocialSquad, Livestock Judging, Meats Judging, President's Ambassadors, Sports Broadcasting, STEM Club, and Theatre.
Requirements: Must meet semester criteria/expectations of the student organization.
 

Endowment Scholarships
Includes: Dependent upon type of scholarship
Open to: All students with 2.0 or higher GPA unless specified who meet donor criteria
Requirements: Must meet donor criteria. Most scholarships have minimum GPA requirements, often established by the donor. Some scholarships, however, have minimum GPA requirements established by the board of directors of the FSCC Endowment Association.

 

Maroon and Gray Scholarship
The FSCC Maroon and Gray scholarship is an academic needs-based scholarship. Students must complete a FAFSA application, live in the dorms, be a Kansas resident, and have an unmet need (determined by Financial Aid office) or GPA of 2.5 or higher. This scholarship will cover up to 18 credit hours of tuition and books per semester. The Maroon and Gray scholarship does not cover room and board or fees. Applications for the Maroon and Gray Scholarship are available through the Admissions Office.

Tuition Waivers

Bourbon County Tuition Waiver
FSCC offers a tuition waiver exclusively for Bourbon County residents who wish to take classes on the Fort Scott campus or online. This waiver cannot be combined with academic/activity scholarships or other waivers. This waiver does not include fees and/or books.
Includes: Tuition waiver up to 15 credit hours per semester
Open to: Residents of Bourbon County, KS (excluding dorm, qualified admissions, concurrent, SB 155).
To apply: Students should contact the FSCC Admissions Department at 620-223-2700, ext. 3520 or ext. 3530. Students must also complete a Bourbon County Tuition Waiver Form and return it to the Admissions Department prior to the start of the semester.

Bourbon County High School Waiver
FSCC offers a tuition waiver for any Bourbon County high school student taking a concurrent class for one KBOR-approved class.
To apply: Students should contact the FSCC Admissions Department at 620-223-2700, ext. 3520 or ext. 3530. Students must also complete a Bourbon County High School Tuition Waiver Form and return it to the Admissions Department prior to the start of the semester.

FSCC Jumpstart Waiver
Includes: Tuition scholarship up to 15 credit hours per semester for the student’s first year at FSCC.
Open to: Students who completed 12+ FSCC concurrent credit hours while attending high school. Excludes qualified admissions.
 

FSCC Tuition Waiver
Includes: Tuition scholarship up to 6 credit hours for full-time students (12+credit hours) or
Tuition scholarship to up 3 credit hours for part-time students (6-11 credit hours)
Open to: Full-time and part-time students with a GPA of 2.0 or above.
