Marvin L. Ketner received his Associate of Arts Degree from Fort Scott Junior College in May of 1962 and went on to graduate from Kansas State College of Pittsburg in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was born in Fort Scott and raised near Garland, Kan., graduating from Fort Scott High School in 1960.

Marvin started his career with Western Insurance Companies in Fort Scott as an Associate Underwriter. He served in the United States Air Force from 1966-69, receiving the rank of Staff Sergeant. From 1970-1980 he worked for Skelly Oil Company and later Getty Oil Company in Tulsa, OK, in the Purchasing and Materials department.

From 1980-1998 he worked in Denver, Colorado and worked for Getty Trading and Transportation Company which later became Texaco Trading and Transportation, Inc. Marvin managed purchasing and materials, corporate services and corporate safety. In 1991 he was named Vice President of Trucking and Crude Oil Gathering Systems where he was accountable for the daily operations of 350 crude oil transport units in 14 states and 500 miles of crude oil pipeline systems. He also served Texaco as Manager of Special Projects and Corporate Asset Management.

In 1997-2003 he worked on a special project in Houston, Texas involving a joint venture of Texaco, Shell Oil and Saudi Refining Company. In 2003, Marvin retired with thirty-three years of service to in the energy industry.

He is married to Brenda (Lyons) Ketner and they reside in Castle Rock, Colorado. They are parents to Douglas C. Ketner and Erin N. Ketner Scott. Marvin will speak at the 10:00 a.m. graduation on Friday, May 15 in the Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center on the FSCC campus.
