FSCC CTEC gives back to Crawford County

October 25, 2021

Pittsburg, KS. – Fort Scott Community College (FSCC) and Southeast Kansas Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) collaborate not only in the classroom but also in the community. Weather permitting, 16 CTEC students from three different high schools (Frontenac HS, Pittsburg HS, & Southeast HS) and traditional college students will be putting their newly acquired skills to work as they help build the foundation for a Habitat for Humanity house in Pittsburg, KS. The Habitat for Humanity foundation brought this project to CTEC Director, Kris Mengarelli, asking to help set the block and get the foundation ready for building.

FSCC CTEC alumni will lead the project, Coltin Oheme (2018 Graduate) and Ty Gates (2021 Graduate), who now work construction and masonry for Next Generation Masonry.  Students will begin the project on Wednesday, weather permitting, and continue into Thursday.

The local media is welcome to join on-site on Thursday. Please contact Kris Mengarelli for more details.
