2022 Endowment Dinner

April 22, 2022

The Fort Scott Community College Foundation recently held the annual Endowment Scholarship dinner this past week.  The event brings together students who have received endowment scholarships during the 2021-22 school year with those who have set up the scholarships within the Foundation.  This year a total of $183,946 inf scholarships were awarded to FSCC students through the foundation.  At the event, students share a meal and conversation with the donors while a short program is presented.  This year, the entertainment was provided by the Fort Scott Community College Quartet led by FSCC music instructor Dr. Denissa Rivas de Munguia.  In total, 129 students, 29 donors, and 10 FSCC faculty and staff attended the celebration.

The Fort Scott Endowment Association was established in 1975 as a non-profit, educational corporation. The purpose of the Endowment Association is to facilitate and encourage gifts to Fort Scott Community College in support of the college mission.  Now known as the Fort Scott Community College Foundation, the association continues to work with the generous donors to create scholarships for students and raise additional funds to support other projects at the college.  The first gift to the college was a generous $5,000 back in 1975.  Thanks to the generosity of many donors, the Endowment fund is valued at more than $8 million. Due to the contributions of the Foundation, Fort Scott Community College will remain a vibrant, responsive, full-service institution fully capable of fulfilling its mission.

“This annual event has been a favorite during my time at FSCC.  It is such a wonderful tradition to connect our students receiving our Endowment scholarships with the donors who have so graciously given back to the school to support the educational mission of FSCC.  Giving our students the opportunity to sit and have a real conversation with someone who supports their educational pursuit is a rewarding experience.  I would like to personally thank all of our generous donors who have supported the students of Fort Scott Community College through their endowment scholarships.  We hope to continue and grow this event in the years to come,” says Vice President of Student Affairs Tom Havron.
