FSCC and CTEC Celebrate Grand Opening of HVAC Lab
On Friday, May 6, the Career and Technical Education Center of Crawford County and Fort Scott Community College celebrated the grand opening of the new Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Lab along with U.S. Senator Jerry Moran, Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce, City of Pittsburg, and members of the community.
The FSCC HVAC program provides students with a variety of hands-on, real-world experiences. An advisory board consisting of industry representatives and instructors oversees the program to ensure the curriculum is up-to-date and responsive to current industry practices.
Coursework incorporates electrical and mechanical systems involved with heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Students are trained to evaluate and determine proper operation of these systems, as well as basic maintenance and repairs for commercial, industrial, and residential units. The program prepares students to test for the EPA refrigerant handling certification and other industry-recognized credentials. Students complete the program ready to work as entry-level service and warranty technicians in HVAC systems.
The FSCC HVAC Program is located at the Career and Technical Education Center of Crawford County, 1301 East 27th Street Terrace, Pittsburg, KS. For more information, please call 620-223-2700 ext. 5360.
