FSCC Men’s Basketball Wrap-up Season on TOP

April 20, 2021

Fort Scott, KS. – Fort Scott Community College has had a tough year with athletics, but that did not stop the FSCC Men’s Basketball team! The Hounds finished their season at 13 and 6 with numerous honors along with it. Five of the basketball players were named All Conference players by KJCCC, the only team with five players simultaneously receiving the honor. The team also stayed nationally ranked in the top twenty and beat the number two and six ranked teams. Hounds defeated the odds against them and won the conference after being picked second to last in the preseason. They went into playoffs as the number 10 ranked team and finished at number 17 in the nation.

All-Conference Players:

Freddy Reeves- 2nd team Justus Mouton- 3rd Team Peter Simon- 3rd Team Kelyn Bolton- 3rd Team Maurice Grayer- 3rd Team

For the third time in a row, Head Coach Michael Cook received Coach of Year and is the most ever a coach has received in the Division II conference.

“This year was special for these student athletes, winning conference and being recognized nationally was great.  Also, having a season with Covid going on and keeping everyone safe and healthy was an accomplishment that would not be possible without the support of our administration.  Our program is fortunate to have five players to receive All Conference honors, as it shows we truly have a team first culture”, says Coach Cook.

The Hounds round out the semester with finals and graduation the last week of April and will come back in July to start gearing up for next year.
