Eligibility for Federal Aid

  • An official high school transcript or GED must be received in the Registrar’s Office.
  • Official transcripts from all previous colleges and/or vocational schools must also be received in the Registrar’s Office.
  • You must be enrolled in at least six credit hours.
  • You must be seeking a degree or be enrolled in an eligible certificate program.
  • You must maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP). Please click here to view our current SAP policy.
  • Generally, if you have already received a college degree, you cannot receive federal aid for more classes at FSCC. If you have a change of major or are seeking a different degree/certificate, you should speak with the Financial Aid Office to determine eligibility.
  • At the Community College level, students may receive financial aid up to 96 attempted credit hours. Repeated hours and withdraws will be counted toward the 96 credit hours. You should speak with the Financial Aid Office to determine eligibility.
  • You must not be in default on a previous educational loan or owe a repayment on a federal grant. Also, if you owe a previous school money, you will not be eligible to receive aid at FSCC until that school has been paid in full.
  • If you are concurrently attending another educational institution, you must inform the Financial Aid Office. It is illegal to receive financial aid at two different institutions at the same time.
  • Truck Driving, EMT and certain Allied Heath courses do not meet the Department of Education’s guidelines for federal aid eligibility. However, Veterans Benefits are approved for these courses.
