FSCC Carpentry

How is this program unique?

This program provides a hands -on approach to delivery of NCCER industry-developed curriculum. FSCC’s construction program allows a student to earn industry recognized credentials at many levels in multiple trades. Through articulation agreements between area high schools, FSCC and Pittsburg State University, students are provided a seamless 2+2+2 path to pursue their education goals. Students will be able to go from the High School level through a University Degree without having to duplicate course work.

What kind of degree is offered?

Students can earn an Associated of Applied Science in Construction Trades. In addition to a degree, students can earn industry recognized credentials in Safety, Carpentry, Masonry, Concrete, Heating & Air Conditioning, Electrical and Plumbing. These credentials will be entered into a national registry that is portable and available to contractors.

What is the employment outlook?

According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment outlook is excellent. Job growth of 13% is expected through the year 2018. Construction maintains the most consistent growth of all industries in the United States. Earnings for all trades in the industry average $20 per hour nationally, higher than average for all other industries.
