FSCC Announces End-of-Year Events

Fort Scott, Kan.—Fort Scott Community College will host its end-of-year events, including graduation ceremonies, beginning Wednesday, May 17. All events are open to the public and will be held at the Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center, 2108 South Horton, Fort Scott, Kan. For more information, please call 620-223-2700.
 
Adult Basic Education Graduation Ceremony
FSCC will hold the Adult Basic Education graduation ceremony at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 17. Graduating students will have earned a GED®. FSCC Dean of Student Support Services Janet Fancher and students Emily Brown and Megan Green will speak.
 
Nursing Recognition and Pinning Ceremony
The FSCC Nursing Recognition and Pinning Ceremony will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, May 18. These students will earn an associate of applied science in nursing degree. During the ceremony, a professionalism award will be presented to first- and second-level students and a local registered nurse will be recognized for supporting the students. This nursing class will be the 100th class to graduate from a nursing program in Fort Scott—Mercy Hospital’s School of Nursing graduated its first class in 1917.
 
Athletics Banquet
The FSCC Athletics Banquet will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, May 18. The event will feature a barbecue meal, followed by remarks and awards presented by FSCC Dean of Students/Athletics Director Tom Havron and FSCC Coaches. Admission will be $10 per person.
 
FSCC Graduation Ceremonies
FSCC will recognize the accomplishments of its graduates with two commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 19. The ceremony for students who have earned an associate of applied science degree, associate of general studies degree, or a certificate in a vocational field will be held at 9:00 am. The ceremony for students who have earned an associate of science degree or associate of arts degree will be held at 12:00 pm.
