Fort Scott Community College Announces End-of-Year Events

Fort Scott, Kan.—Fort Scott Community College will host its end-of-year events, including graduation ceremonies, beginning Wednesday, May 11. All events are open to the public and will be held at Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center located at 2108 South Horton, Fort Scott, Kan. For more information, please call 620-223-2700.

 

Adult Basic Education Graduation Ceremony

FSCC will host its Adult Basic Education graduation ceremony at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 11, where more than 15 students will be recognized. Graduating students will have earned a GED®. Alysia Johnston, FSCC President, and Destiny Garcia, FSCC Student, will speak.

 

Nursing Recognition and Pinning Ceremony

The FSCC Nursing Recognition and Pinning Ceremony will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, May 12. These students will earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing. During the ceremony, a professionalism award will be presented to first and second level students. Additionally, a local registered nurse will be recognized for supporting the students.

 

Athletics Banquet

The FSCC Athletics Banquet will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, May 12. The event will feature a BBQ meal, followed by remarks and awards presented by Tom Havron, FSCC Athletics Director, and FSCC Coaches. Admission is $10 per person.

 

FSCC Graduation Ceremonies

FSCC will recognize the accomplishments of its graduates with three commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 13. The ceremony for students who have earned an Associate of Applied Science degree or a certificate in a vocational field will be held at 9:00 am. Gina Shelton, the 2016 FSCC Outstanding Young Alumna, will speak. At 12:00 pm, the ceremony for students who have earned an Associate of Arts or an Associate of General Studies degree will be held. Chase Gleason, the 2016 FSCC Outstanding Sophomore, will speak. FSCC will host a reception to honor Gina Shelton, the 2016 FSCC Outstanding Young Alumna, and Paul Grimes, PhD, the 2016 FSCC Outstanding Alumnus, at 2:00 pm. The ceremony for students who have earned an Associate of Science degree will be held at 4:00 pm. Paul Grimes, PhD, the 2016 FSCC Outstanding Alumnus, will speak.
