FSCC Names Chase Gleason 2016 Outstanding Sophomore

Fort Scott Community College Names Chase Gleason 2016 Outstanding Sophomore

Fort Scott, Kan.—Fort Scott Community College is pleased to announce that Chase Gleason has been selected as the 2016 Outstanding Sophomore. FSCC will host a reception to honor him at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 5 at the Danny & Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center, 2108 South Horton Street, Fort Scott, Kan. Gleason will also speak at the FSCC noon graduation ceremony on Friday, May 13.

 

Gleason hails from Uniontown, Kan., and his parents are Kevin and Brenda Gleason. He began attending classes at FSCC in the fall of 2014. Gleason will receive an Associate of General Studies degree, and plans to transfer to Kansas State University to study agricultural economics and animal science.

 

“Chase is very deserving of this award. It is a reflection of his work ethic, drive for academic success, and natural ability,” said Ryan Page, FSCC Agriculture Instructor and Livestock Judging Coach.

 

Gleason was named to the FSCC Dean’s Honor Roll in 2014 and 2015. He has been a member of the FSCC Livestock Judging Team for the past two years, and was named the All-American Junior College Livestock Judger in 2016. He has also served as a member FSCC Collegiate Farm Bureau and Phi Theta Kappa honor society.
