Martin Luther King, Jr. Day observance at FSCC announced

Fort Scott, KS- Fort Scott Community College will observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a Lunch and Learn presentation on Monday, January 18, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm in the Gordon Parks Museum. The hour’s program will feature a short film on Dr. King and a panel discussion made up of members from the community. Moderator for the event will be the Rev. Dr. Jared Witt, pastor of the Fort Scott First Presbyterian church.

The Lunch and Learn is free and open to the public. Participants should bring their lunch with them and drinks and desserts will be provided. Participants are also asked to bring an item for the Beacon food pantry.

“Lunch and Learn is a great way for us to celebrate Dr. King’s life and open the lines of dialogue in our community,” said Jill Warford, director of the Gordon Parks Museum at FSCC. “We will have a panel discussion made up of community members who each have a different perspective on the MLK Day theme of service and dialogue. We’ll take a look at our community and discuss the ways we make a difference in people’s lives and what we can do to implement changes.”
