Farm and Ranch Management

Since 1975, Fort Scott Community College Department of Agriculture has strived to assist students in developing the skills and knowledge necessary to get a job, develop a family business or transfer to a four-year university.  In addition to the celebrated programs with John Deere, Livestock Judging, Meat Judging and Rodeo, the department offers courses on livestock, soil science, animal science, dairy, poultry, agriculture machinery, meat evaluation, equine science, agriculture technology, agribusiness marketing, feed, horse training, plant science, farm and ranch management, horseshoeing,

Environmental Water Technology

At Fort Scott Community College, Environmental Water Technologies are not limited to a study of earth's sciences, but include a search for solutions for all environmental concerns. FSCC trains professionals to fill the numerous employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors. It is our mission to help environmental specialists develop strategies that preserve the environment and improve the quality of life one community at a time.



About the FSCC Welding Program

The FSCC welding program provides students with comprehensive, hands-on training in welding technology. Through the one-year certificate program, students can earn industry-recognized credentials, such as the American Welding Society Structural Certification D1.1 These credentials are entered into a national registry that is portable and available to contractors.


The Fort Scott Community College Nursing Department offers students an associate of applied science degree in nursing for students who have completed prerequisite courses and four semesters of nursing courses. Graduates are eligible to take the national licensing exam for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN) and to apply for state licensure as a registered nurse.


Fort Scott Community College offers a certificate in Manicuring at both our Fort Scott and Pittsburg Cosmetology locations. In this program, students will learn different manicuring procedures, hand and arm massage techniques, and information regarding proper sterilization and sanitation.

Criminal Justice

Interested in pursuing a career in criminal justice? Fort Scott Community College offers students a two-year associate of applied science degree program, a two-year associate of science degree program with emphasis in criminal justice, and a one-year certificate program.


The Fort Scott Community College Cosmetology program offers training in modern facilities utilizing some of the finest salon equipment available. Operating under the close supervision of the Kansas State Board of Cosmetology, the program has established a reputation of excellence in instruction and quality of graduates.

Construction Trades

FSCC’s Construction Trades program is unique due to its 2 + 2 + 2 program. A student can start in this program as early as junior and senior year of high school earning college credit toward their degree. The student would then earn their associate of applied science degree at FSCC and move on for higher learning at Pittsburg State University. Students who follow the 2 + 2 + 2 program will not have to duplicate coursework in any of the three phases of their education.
