FSCC alum and steer wrestler, Stewart Gulager wins big at The American.

Fort Scott, KS- Stewart Gulager came in at 4.2 seconds and first place in RFD-TV’s The American semi-final, shootout steer wrestling competition on Sunday, February 22.  This was good enough to win Stewart Gulager a $25,000 pot and a slot in The American’s finals held next week in Dallas.

 

The American’s semi-final rounds held in Fort Worth gave out $500,000.  The finals are expected to give out $2 million.

 

Fort Lincoln School House fundraising complete, work to begin in spring.

Fort Scott, Kansas – Fundraising is complete for the renovation of the Fort Lincoln School House. $5500 was raised for repairs to the one-room schoolhouse that sits on the northeast corner of the Fort Scott Community College campus.

 

Donors to the project included the Knights of Columbus, the City of Fort Scott, Rotary, the DuVall Family and many other individuals.

 

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day activities at FSCC announced

Fort Scott, KS- Fort Scott Community College will observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a “Lunch and Learn” presentation on Monday, January 19, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Gordon Parks Museum. The hour’s program will feature a short film on Dr. King and a talk given by LaShawn Miller, Mercy Hospice social worker and volunteer coordinator. Ms. Miller is also an adjunct instructor at FSCC.

 

The Lunch and Learn is free and open to the public. Participants should bring their own lunch. Drinks and desserts will be provided.

 

Santa to visit FSCC for breakfast, gifts and fun!

Fort Scott, Kansas – Fort Scott Community College is pleased to announce “Breakfast with Santa” on Saturday, December 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Ellis Family Fine Arts Center.

 

Tickets to the event are $4 for child and adult alike. Children will receive breakfast, a small gift bag, a photo with Santa Claus and entry for large door prizes. Adults will receive breakfast only.

 

Claus said of the upcoming event, “I hope to see all of Fort Scott’s good little girls and boys. I will check my list twice, but a personal visit is nice.”
